Improving Distribution Services, Pupuk Indonesia Optimizes Warehouse Reliability

JAKARTA – In order to optimize fertilizer distribution services to farmers, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) continues to improve the reliability of the distribution system as a whole. One of them is by repairing and upgrading warehousing facilities, as well as branding according to Pupuk Indonesia's corporate identity, especially warehouses line 2 at the provincial level and line 3 at the regency/city level.

SVP of Pupuk Indonesia Distribution, Setyo Margono said that the upgrading & branding work program for warehousing facilities was carried out in order to support the smooth distribution of fertilizers, ensure product quality to be maintained properly, increase customer awareness, and also to answer the issue of scarcity of subsidized fertilizers in certain provinces.

"For now, there are four warehousing facilities that are almost complete in the work stage in the 2022-2023 period where 2 units are located in Central Java, namely the Pusri Pati Warehouse and the Fertilizer Bagging Unit or UPP Semarang, one warehouse unit in East Java, namely the Indonesian Fertilizer Warehouse in Nganjuk, and another unit of non-subsidized fertilizer warehouse in Dumai, Riau Province, Setyo explained.

As for the 2022-2023 period, continued Setyo, the warehouse upgrading & branding program will also be carried out in 3 other regions, namely South Sumatra (Pusri Martapura Warehouse), Central Java (Pusri Klaten Warehouse), East Java (Pusri Malang-Pakisaji Warehouse).

Setyo further detailed that the improvement of UPP Semarang, which is located in the Tanjung Mas port area, aims to increase the life of the facility, increase productivity and as a form of mitigating the impact of tidal floods that often occur in the area.  The Pusri Pati Warehouse has increased its warehouse capacity from the initial 5,000 tons to 6,500 tons due to the allocation of subsidized fertilizers in Central Java which tends to increase from year to year.

In addition to the addition of capacity, there is also work on repairing warehouse buildings, repairing driver's waiting shelters and toilets as well as painting the building thoroughly with a new look using blue paint and its attributes which are the identity or branding colors of Pupuk Indonesia.

Slightly different from the Pusri Warehouse in Pati, Central Java, the warehouse upgrading & branding program in Nganjuk, East Java is aimed at changing the function of the warehouse from what was originally a seed storage warehouse to a fertilizer storage warehouse with a capacity of 7,500 tons.

Pupuk Indonesia's warehouse in Nganjuk, East Java, will be used by one of Pupuk Indonesia's subsidiaries, namely PT Petrokimia Gresik which is in charge of supplying subsidized fertilizer of Urea & NPK type in Nganjuk Regency, East Java. For now, the work progress has been 90% and will be ready to operate in early April 2023.

Then, for the warehouse in Dumai, Riau Province, it is currently in the process of increasing the ability to bag non-subsidized Urea fertilizer pt Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (PKT) from 200 tons per day (manual method) to 600 tons per day using a bagging machine. In addition, an increase in warehouse capacity was also carried out to accommodate shipments by 35 thousand tons. This warehouse is used to meet the needs of non-subsidized urea fertilizer in Riau Province.

"We hope that the upgrading, branding, and increasing the reliability of warehousing facilities can improve the quality of Pupuk Indonesia Group's services as a whole in distributing fertilizers, both subsidized and non-subsidized," said Setyo.
