Magelang, May 16, 2025 – PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), through its Tajumase program, is working to develop the potential of Giripurno Village, Borobudur Subdistrict, Magelang Regency, into an agrotourism village. The Tajumase program, aimed at improving the local economy, was officially launched by Pupuk Indonesia’s Director of Human Resources, Tina T. Kemala Intan, on Friday (May 16, 2025).

Tina stated that the Tajumase Program (Tani Maju Makmur Sejahtera – Advanced, Prosperous, and Thriving Farming) in Giripurno Village is part of Pupuk Indonesia’s commitment to implementing sustainable Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL), particularly in its marketing areas. The program also aligns with the mandate of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) of the Republic of Indonesia to improve food security, in accordance with the government’s Asta Cita goals.

“Through the Tajumase program, Pupuk Indonesia will assist the people of Giripurno in various aspects to help the village achieve economic independence, guided by a multi-year strategic plan,” Tina explained.

The program integrates the potential of agriculture, livestock, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and tourism to build economic independence—one of the key initiatives being the transformation of Giripurno Village into an agrotourism destination.

“One of the concrete actions of this program is the support in the agricultural and livestock sectors, including the initial planting of a demonstration plot of chili crops, aimed at introducing and showcasing effective chili cultivation techniques to the local community. In addition, the program provides 20 goats and livestock shelters, which will be managed communally,” Tina added.

She further explained that Pupuk Indonesia will also collaborate with the village community to address a range of issues, including child stunting, and to empower vulnerable groups such as women farmers (KWT), youth, and people with disabilities.

Meanwhile, Hera Zera, Coordinator of TJSL at the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, who attended the opening ceremony, expressed her appreciation to Pupuk Indonesia for initiating the Tajumase program in Giripurno Village. She noted that optimizing Giripurno through the Tajumase program will help the community gain greater benefits.

She also explained that state-owned enterprises have responsibilities toward environmental and social sustainability. The Tajumase program is multi-dimensional and integrated within Giripurno Village, including the optimization of tourism potential.

“For greater optimization, future collaboration could be established with the state-owned enterprise managing Borobudur Temple. We aim to encourage such synergy to maximize the impact of SOE programs so that communities truly benefit,” she emphasized.

Receiving Appreciation

Responding to this development, Magelang Deputy Regent, Sahid, expressed gratitude to Pupuk Indonesia. He noted that Giripurno Village has significant tourism potential, offering natural beauty and cultural richness. This potential can increase tourist interest, thereby improving community welfare.

“The Magelang Regency Government appreciates this initiative, as it helps optimize tourism potential. We hope the program will boost tourist visits to Magelang Regency, increase local incomes, and strengthen Magelang’s image as a quality tourism destination,” Sahid stated.

He believes that tourism development in Giripurno could become a model for other village-based tourism initiatives in the region. Strong collaboration between the community, local government, and state-owned enterprises will enhance the quality and quantity of tourism in Magelang.

Similarly, Giripurno Village Head, Pujowandi, also extended his thanks to Pupuk Indonesia for its consistent support and mentoring efforts. He noted that Pupuk Indonesia’s assistance, especially in improving human resources, has had a positive impact on both the village’s and residents’ income levels.

He emphasized that the skills and competencies of Giripurno’s residents still need improvement, which is why the village's tourism potential has yet to be fully realized. He believes the Pupuk Indonesia program is well-targeted and aligns with Giripurno’s actual needs.

“Optimizing village potential requires the support of many stakeholders. Even with the great potential in Giripurno, without stakeholder collaboration, the economic impact for the community will not be maximized,” he concluded.
