Jakarta, February 13, 2025 – In support of the Government’s initiative to provide affordable food to the public, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) has launched a low-cost food market operation. This initiative is being carried out at Pupuk Indonesia’s headquarters as well as its regional offices.

Pupuk Indonesia’s Corporate Secretary, Wijaya Laksana, stated that the company has been conducting affordable food market operations since February 26, 2025.

“We welcome the Government’s directive to hold this initiative. This activity represents Pupuk Indonesia’s commitment to providing and making food more accessible to the public while also helping to stabilize food prices,” said Wijaya.

Pupuk Indonesia’s affordable food market operation is being held in anticipation of the upcoming Religious and National Holidays (HKBN), particularly the Ramadan fasting month and Eid al-Fitr 2025. Following Government directives, Pupuk Indonesia is offering essential goods at affordable prices, including rice and cooking oil.

Regarding pricing, the public can purchase SPHP rice for IDR 12,000 per kg, while the official price ceiling (HET) is IDR 12,500. Meanwhile, cooking oil is available at IDR 14,700 per liter, compared to the HET of IDR 15,700.

The prices of food products in this operation are significantly lower than the HET, allowing the public to meet their basic food needs at more affordable prices.

“Pupuk Indonesia fully supports this affordable food market initiative as it represents a collaboration between State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). The food products offered come from other BUMN entities, and we hope this initiative will bring positive benefits to the surrounding communities,” said Wijaya.

This initiative has been well received by local communities near Pupuk Indonesia’s offices. Mufliha, one of the participants, expressed her appreciation, saying that the affordable food market operation has been a great help in meeting daily food needs, especially with rising staple food prices.

“This low-cost food market is very helpful because staple goods have become expensive. Thanks to this initiative, I can buy essential groceries at lower prices. I hope this program can be expanded even further,” said Mufliha.

Similarly, Dini, another resident, hopes that Pupuk Indonesia will continue expanding the initiative to more locations near its offices.

Pupuk Indonesia has organized this affordable food market operation in 18 regional offices, including Semarang, Bandung, Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, Banten, South Sumatra (Sumsel), Jambi, Yogyakarta, Lampung, Bengkulu, Surabaya, Denpasar, Banjarmasin, Pontianak, Mataram, and Makassar. As of now, 3,320 people have participated in Pupuk Indonesia’s affordable food market operation.
