Jakarta, August 9, 2024 – As a state-owned enterprise supporting the sport of weightlifting, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) takes pride in and congratulates lifter Rizki Juniansyah for winning a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. This gold is the first-ever medal in weightlifting for Indonesia since the sport's Olympic debut in 1952, and it marks Indonesia's second gold medal at the Paris Games this year.

Pupuk Indonesia's President Director, Rahmad Pribadi, stated that the Indonesian Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, continually encourages SOEs to contribute to national sports achievements. He noted that Rizki’s international success positively impacts weightlifting, aligning with Pupuk Indonesia’s commitment to advancing the sport.

"Pupuk Indonesia Group congratulates Rizki Juniansyah on his outstanding achievement. Since 2022, we have supported weightlifting through the organization of national championships for both youth and adults. Our support for these events reflects Pupuk Indonesia’s contribution to the country," Rahmad said.

Rizki won the gold medal in the men's 73 kg weightlifting category at the South Paris Arena 6, France. The 21-year-old lifter completed his lifts with a total of 354 kg, including a snatch of 155 kg and a clean & jerk of 199 kg. His clean & jerk lift also set a new Olympic record.

To maintain weightlifting achievements, Pupuk Indonesia has been organizing the National Weightlifting Championships since 2022. Recently, Pupuk Indonesia, together with its subsidiaries Petrokimia Gresik, Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Pupuk Kaltim), and Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang, hosted the Pupuk Indonesia 2024 Youth U15 - U17 National Weightlifting Championships in Bandung from August 1 to 4, 2024, featuring hundreds of athletes from various provinces.

The company hopes these championships serve as a platform for nurturing and developing weightlifting talent from youth to adulthood. Regional lifters have the opportunity to experience a competitive atmosphere alongside the national team lifters who represent Indonesia internationally.

“Rizki Juniansyah is a product of the Pupuk Indonesia Senior Weightlifting Championships 2023, alongside Nurul Akmal and Eko Yuli Irawan, who represented Indonesia at the Paris Olympics. We hope weightlifting continues to contribute medals at both national and international levels,” he added.

He further emphasized that national achievements are a collective responsibility. As part of the SOE sector, Pupuk Indonesia supports the development of future lifters. It is hoped that Pupuk Indonesia's support will produce young, accomplished lifters who will bring honor to the nation in the future, thereby reinforcing Pupuk Indonesia Group’s contribution to the country.

“Rizki Juniansyah’s success not only fills us with pride but also motivates Pupuk Indonesia to increase its contribution to weightlifting and other sports. Through this contribution, Pupuk Indonesia’s presence is increasingly felt by the Indonesian people, the nation, and the state,” he concluded
