West Sumatra, June 11, 2024 - PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) has distributed aid to communities affected by flash floods and landslides in Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra. The aid, consisting of basic necessities and cash, is a collaboration between Pupuk Indonesia and the Association of Pupuk Indonesia Employees' Wives (PIKA-PI).

The aid was directly handed over by the Deputy CEO of Pupuk Indonesia, Gusrizal, accompanied by the Deputy Chairperson of PIKA PI-Group, Rina Meitia Nizar, to the Regent of Tanah Datar Regency, Eka Putra, in Batusangkar, on Monday (June 10, 2024).

Gusrizal stated that Pupuk Indonesia, as part of a state-owned enterprise, moved quickly to help the communities affected by the disaster in Tanah Datar. He noted that the post-disaster recovery process conducted by the Government requires support from many parties.

“We want to share our sympathy with the disaster-affected communities. Disasters can strike anyone, anywhere. This aid is hoped to provide the spirit for the affected communities to rise again,” said Gusrizal.

He added that this assistance is part of Pupuk Indonesia's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program to support the Government in early recovery efforts. He hopes that this aid will be beneficial for the thousands of people affected by this disaster.

The aid delivered included 2,000 bags of rice, which is currently a basic need for the affected communities. Each bag contains 5 kilograms, totaling 10 tons valued at IDR 154 million. Additionally, PIKA PI also contributed IDR 25 million in cash assistance.

“This aid may not fulfill all the needs of the disaster-affected residents, but we hope that this initial aid can reduce their burden and help accelerate post-disaster recovery,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Tanah Datar welcomed the aid provided by Pupuk Indonesia and PIKA PI-Group. He expressed his gratitude for Pupuk Indonesia’s concern and empathy. According to him, this aid is very beneficial for the affected communities.

“The arrival of Pupuk Indonesia boosts the spirit of the people of Tanah Datar to rise after the disaster. We hope that Pupuk Indonesia will continue to progress and provide even more benefits to the community,” emphasized Eka Putra.
