Heading Towards Jakarta Fashion Week 2025, Pupuk Indonesia Collaborates MSMEs with Two Renowned Designers
Palembang, May 30, 2024 – In preparation for the Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2025, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) is gearing up its MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) partners in traditional textiles through a designer mentorship program with renowned designers Temma Prasetio and Maya Ratih. The first mentorship session is being conducted for the traditional textile MSMEs partnered with Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang, starting Thursday (30/5/2024).
Tina T. Kemala Intan, Director of HR and General Affairs at Pupuk Indonesia, mentioned that Indonesia is a country rich with traditional textiles, or "wastra," which hold significant cultural heritage, such as songket, batik, and tenun. Pupuk Indonesia sees the potential for these MSME products to be showcased at JFW 2025.
“Jakarta Fashion Week is one of the largest fashion events in Indonesia with an international scale. The mentorship program with designers for Wastra MSMEs is our commitment to help them level up and compete in the global market,” said Tina.
In preparation for JFW 2025, Pupuk Indonesia is facilitating collaborations between its MSME partners and renowned designers. This includes those in Palembang who will collaborate with songket artisans. The results of these collaborations will be showcased at JFW 2025.
“The Wastra artisans certainly need partners who can inspire and guide them. Here in Palembang, we are directly mentoring MSME partners of Pusri. We hope this program will motivate MSME players to continue innovating," Tina added.
Pupuk Indonesia's subsidiaries that have traditional textile MSME partners and will receive mentorship include Pusri Palembang, Petrokimia Gresik, Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, Pupuk Kujang, and Pupuk Iskandar Muda. The mentorship with designers will rotate to each of these subsidiaries' regions.
Tina further added that Pupuk Indonesia Group is gradually providing coaching to enhance the capacity of their traditional textile artisan partners, ranging from financial aid distribution, financial management education, promotion, to expanding markets and dealing with potential buyers. The goal is to improve their business capabilities, making them resilient and independent.
Through the coaching program initiated by Pupuk Indonesia, traditional textile MSMEs gain numerous benefits. Besides progressing to the next level, regeneration is also a goal to ensure that the younger generation participates in maintaining the national traditional textile industry so it can compete in the global market.
Moreover, Tina revealed that Pupuk Indonesia's participation in JFW 2025, highlighting the theme of Wastra Palembang, is a synergy program with the PIKA PI Group (Association of Wives of Pupuk Indonesia Employees) as a form of the women's support for sustainability movement to support the achievement of sustainable development goals.
“Under the umbrella of Pupuk Indonesia’s Social & Environmental Responsibility (TJSL), Pupuk Indonesia Group will continue to provide broader opportunities for its partners to advance and develop,” concluded Tina.
