Pupuk Indonesia is Optimistic that AIPF 2023 will Increase the Strategic Role of National Development
JAKARTA (6/9) – PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) took part in organizing the ASEAN Indo Pacific Forum (AIPF) in Jakarta on 5 and 6 September 2023. This activity is expected to be the right moment for Pupuk Indonesia to demonstrate its strategic role in national development.
State Owned Enterprise (BUMN) Minister Erick Thohir added that by utilizing the collective strength of ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific with a spirit of cooperation, all parties can open new opportunities for sustainable growth and development throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
"Right now, we are at an important moment, a moment of opportunity, a moment of responsibility. We are coming together to build a more connected, more prosperous and more sustainable future for the ASEAN and Indo-Pacific regions," said Erick.
Meanwhile, Pupuk Indonesia's Director of Portfolio and Business Development, Jamsaton Nababan, revealed that in this strategic forum Pupuk Indonesia will introduce the development of blue ammonia and green ammonia. Both are sources of clean energy in the future and it is predicted that future demand will increase.
He further explained that development is a form of diversification of Pupuk Indonesia's business which also supports the downstreaming of the domestic hydrogen industry to provide added value to the national economy. Moreover, Pupuk Indonesia has more than fifty years of experience in producing, distributing and managing ammonia.
"As a business matching opportunity, Pupuk Indonesia is introducing a number of blue ammonia and green ammonia developments in collaboration with several foreign companies," he stressed.
There are four plans for the development of blue ammonia and green ammonia presented in AIPF 2023, namely blue ammonia and on Yamdena Island with INPEX from Japan. Then the development of blue ammonia in the Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) area in Aceh with Mitsui from Japan.
Next is the development of hybrid green ammonia at Petrokimia Gresik together with PLN and ACWA Power from Saudi Arabia. Finally, Pupuk Indonesia also plans to develop hybrid green ammonia at Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) together with Toyo and Mitsui from Japan.
"Together with these companies, we will carry out studies which we have outlined in a memorandum of understanding or MoU," explained Jamsaton.
In line with the AIPF 2023 theme, apart from preparing clean chemical supporting infrastructure, Pupuk Indonesia also has advantages in the field of digital transformation. This is done through the development of information technology to increase the competitiveness of the national fertilizer industry.
In this digital transformation program, Pupuk Indonesia has implemented various cutting-edge technologies such as robotics, simulation, internet of things (IoT), cyber security, cloud computing, big data, virtual reality, precision farming, and so on.
"We hope that in the AIPF 2023 event there can be cooperation and exchange of information, knowledge and technology transfer between ASEAN countries," he added.
