Pupuk Indonesia Supports Industrial Downstreaming and Green Economy at Hannover Messe 2023
HANNOVER - PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) supports President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s efforts in developing downstream industries and a green economy. This was conveyed by Jokowi when opening the Hannover Messe 2023 industrial exhibition in Germany, Sunday (16/04/2023).
In his remarks, Jokowi said that Indonesia is very open to investment and cooperation with all countries at the Hannover Messe 2023. On this occasion, Jokowi also invited German investors to participate in building a green economy in Indonesia. Because Indonesia has great potential, starting from natural resources, demographic bonuses, large markets, and a well-maintained economy.
In the same place, Pupuk Indonesia's Director of Business Transformation, Panji Winanteya Ruky, revealed that his party is also open to opportunities for cooperation and investment from various parties. Because the Pupuk Indonesia group is currently also developing petrochemical products that lead to reduced carbon emissions.
"At the Hannover Messe 2023, we are presenting a plan to develop clean ammonia, namely blue ammonia and green ammonia. Because both are one of the future environmentally friendly energy sources," said Panji.
Apart from clean ammonia, continued Panji, Pupuk Indonesia will also develop a green industrial area in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Lhokseumawe, Aceh. Where this area will be the location for the development of clean ammonia, by utilizing new and renewable energy sources. Through clean ammonia, Pupuk Indonesia wants to make Indonesia a hub for the world ammonia market in the future.
Apart from clean ammonia, the Pupuk Indonesia group is also developing a number of other petrochemical products. Starting from soda ash, liquid CO2, methanol, and so on. Derivative products from the fertilizer industry can be used by other industries, while reducing Indonesia's dependence on imports.
"The development of this clean ammonia and green industrial area is in line with the world's agenda of reducing carbon emissions. But to make it happen requires large investment and mastery of technology from various parties, "explained Panji.
Apart from the green energy ecosystem, Pupuk Indonesia also exhibited the ten best digital innovations at the Hannover Messe 2023. These ten digital innovations came from three of Pupuk Indonesia's subsidiaries, namely PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, PT Pusri Palembang and PT Petrokimia Gresik.
"Digitalization is part of the Pupuk Indonesia group's business transformation program. We apply this digitalization to the fields of research, procurement, production, distribution, sales, to develop talents who are ready for the digital era in the future," explained Panji.
Digitization in the Pupuk Indonesia group, continued Panji, was carried out by applying various latest technologies. For example, the use of robots, simulation, internet of things (IoT), cyber security, cloud computing, big data, virtual reality, data analytics, and so on.
This digital ecosystem has been proven to produce business processes that are far more effective and efficient. This can be seen through the increase in Pupuk Indonesia's audited EBITDA of IDR 30.78 trillion or 224% of the target of IDR 13.74 trillion.
