JAKARTA – PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) continues to develop its business to support the achievement of the zero carbon emission target. One of them is by providing a more environmentally friendly energy ecosystem, in this case blue ammonia and green ammonia.

To achieve this, the Corporate Secretary of Pupuk Indonesia, Wijaya Laksana, said that his party would hold the Pupuk Indonesia Clean Ammonia Forum (PICAF) on Thursday 30 March 2023 in Jakarta. PICAF 2023 is a strategic forum across the energy and petrochemical value chain in Indonesia to promote low-carbon ammonia ecosystems. Wijaya also emphasized that PICAF 2023 is also an event to support the company's commitment to sustainable development goals (SDG's).

"PICAF 2023 builds dialogue to accelerate the implementation of technological and policy innovations to strengthen the clean and sustainable ammonia value chain," said Wijaya in Jakarta, Monday (27/3/2023).

Wijaya added, PICAF 2023 would invite energy and petrochemical value chain actors in Indonesia and globally, think tanks and international organizations, governments, state-owned companies, global and national business actors, universities and associations. Meanwhile, SOE Minister Erick Thohir is scheduled to open the event as well as be the keynote speaker.

Apart from SOE Minister Erick Thohir, continued Wijaya, PICAF 2023 also presented a number of other key speakers. Among them are from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Industry. Furthermore, PICAF 2023 will be divided into four discussion panels with competent sources and relevant industry players, both national and international.

The first panel discussion session will discuss the green energy transition through clean ammonia. Then the second discussion panel discussed the clean ammonia policy landscape. The third discussion panel discussed the market potential of clean ammonia. And in the last discussion panel will discuss the technological aspects of clean ammonia.

Ammonia itself is a chemical compound consisting of the elements Hydrogen and Nitrogen. Ammonia is usually a gas, but can also be made into a liquid. Aside from being a raw material for fertilizer, ammonia can also be reacted into various useful products, one of which is a future energy source.

"Ammonia, apart from being a raw material for fertilizer, in the future can also be developed for the transportation sector to power plants. With the development of this clean ammonia, we are targeting to reduce carbon emissions equivalent to 5 million tons of CO2 by 2050," explained Wijaya

Wijaya further revealed that Pupuk Indonesia is a producer of fertilizers and chemicals that will support the provision of green energy at the global level. This is because Pupuk Indonesia has more than 50 years of experience in producing, managing and distributing ammonia.

"For this reason, we hope that the 2023 Pupuk Indonesia Clean Ammonia Forum can become a momentum for us to be able to jointly encourage the creation of a clean ammonia management ecosystem in Indonesia," said Wijaya.
