JAKARTA (28/12) - PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) has handed over food assistance or buffer stock to the people of South Sulawesi (Sulsel) who were affected by extreme weather disasters. The assistance was provided by Pupuk Indonesia's Vice President of Regional Sales for Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua (Sulamapa), Roh Eddy Andri and was received by the head of the South Sulawesi Regional BPBD Executive, Muhammad Firda.

"I would like to thank BPPD for receiving our donations for the buffer stock for disasters that might occur in South Sulawesi. Hopefully this assistance can be useful for the surrounding community and hopefully BPBD can carry out the mandate we have given," said Roh Eddy.

Roh Eddy said that the buffer stock assistance provided was in the form of groceries that could be used by affected communities during extreme weather in the future. As for extreme weather disasters that have occurred in 14 regencies/cities in South Sulawesi.

"This buffer stock assistance will be distributed by the BPBD South Sulawesi to disaster victims due to extreme weather which is marked by high tides and high rainfall accompanied by strong winds which result in flooding, landslides, fallen trees, tornadoes, and abrasion in several areas," he said. area in South Sulawesi," he said.

The process of handing over food assistance from Pupuk Indonesia was also witnessed by the Head of the South Sulawesi Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility Coordination Forum (FK-TJSLP), Latunreng. On the same occasion, several BUMNs also provided assistance, such as PT Pegadaian and Pelindo. 

Based on data from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of South Sulawesi Province, there are 14 areas affected by bad weather, namely Takalar, Soppeng, Pinrang, Selayar Islands, Jeneponto, Gowa, Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap), Enrekang, Wajo, Pare-pare City, Pangkajene Islands (Pangkep), Bone, Maros and Makassar City Regencies.

The worst floods caused by extreme weather occurred in Soppeng, Wajo, Maros and Makassar Regencies. Then the landslide disaster that occurred in Gowa and Enrekang, Pangkep and Bone Regencies. In addition, coastal abrasion occurred in Takalar and Pinrang Regencies, then a tornado occurred in Selayar Islands, Jeneponto, Sidrap and Parepare Municipalities.
