Pupuk Indonesia Group Promotes National Athlete Achievement and Regeneration through the 2025 Senior National Weightlifting Championship

Yogyakarta, May 15, 2025 – Pupuk Indonesia Group once again supports the achievement and regeneration of national weightlifting athletes through the 2025 Senior National Weightlifting Championship. A total of 84 athletes from 25 provinces competed in the event held at the Sports Hall (GOR) of Yogyakarta State University (UNY), Yogyakarta, from May 13 to 18, 2025.
The Human Resources Director of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), Tina T. Kemala Intan, who attended the opening on Thursday (May 13, 2025), stated that Pupuk Indonesia, as part of a state-owned enterprise, not only focuses on profit in its business operations but is also committed to providing benefits to society, including in sports, particularly through the weightlifting branch.
“Pupuk Indonesia collaborates with its subsidiaries, namely Petrokimia Gresik, Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, and Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang. We have been consistently developing achievements and regeneration of weightlifting athletes since 2022,” Tina said.
She revealed that weightlifting has become a fertile ground for proud achievements, especially at the international level. These accomplishments demonstrate Indonesia’s strength and great potential.
Indonesian lifter Rizky Juniansyah, who won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, recently secured seven medals alongside Rahmat Erwin and Juliana Klarisa at the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Jiangshan, China, just a few days ago. This is clear evidence that the dedication, support, and consistent coaching from Pupuk Indonesia have brought honor to Indonesia on the world stage.
“For the past three years, Pupuk Indonesia has supported PB PABSI (the Indonesian Weightlifting Federation) in athlete development. PB PABSI has shown its commitment with commendable achievements. Hopefully, this collaboration will continue and produce even greater achievements in the future,” Tina concluded.
Meanwhile, the National Championship was held over three days and involved 175 personnel, consisting of 84 athletes, 26 coaches, and 65 supporters from 25 provincial PABSI branches, including Central Papua.
PB PABSI Secretary-General Major General (Ret.) Djoko Pramono revealed that the achievements of Indonesian weightlifting athletes owe much to Pupuk Indonesia’s support. Indonesia is currently recognized worldwide as a strong contender in weightlifting.
However, he added, the weightlifting branch faces challenges due to new regulations set by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), particularly concerning weight categories across junior, youth, and senior levels. Therefore, in athlete development, adjustments must be made for Indonesia to enhance its international performance. Djoko explained that to accelerate these adjustments, PB PABSI, in cooperation with Pupuk Indonesia, has already implemented the latest regulations at this year’s National Championship.
“PB PABSI is very fortunate to receive support from the government through Pupuk Indonesia. This support is crucial for the training programs carried out by PB PABSI to achieve future successes,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Central, Lieutenant General (Ret.) Marciano Norman, hopes that Pupuk Indonesia’s full support for PB PABSI can be returned to the Indonesian people in the form of achievements. “I also hope this collaboration can last long-term so that future achievements on the world stage, especially at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, can be improved—perhaps two gold medals or more,” he said.
Gold medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Rizky Juniansyah, who also attended the opening, hopes new potential athletes will emerge from this National Championship. “I hope many junior, youth, and senior athletes will emerge through Pupuk Indonesia’s support and excel both nationally and internationally,” he concluded.
