Jakarta, March 21, 2025 – PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) has confirmed that the national fertilizer stock remains available as per regulations ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri (Lebaran 2025). As of March 20, 2025, Pupuk Indonesia recorded a total fertilizer stock of 1.63 million tons, consisting of 1.19 million tons of subsidized fertilizer and 445,000 tons of non-subsidized fertilizer.
"During this holy month of Ramadan and leading up to Eid al-Fitr, Pupuk Indonesia continues to ensure fertilizer availability for farmers as part of our commitment to supporting the government’s priority programs in food security," said Pupuk Indonesia’s Corporate Secretary, Wijaya Laksana, on March 21, 2025.
Wijaya further explained that the 1.19 million tons of subsidized fertilizer includes:
581,000 tons of Urea,
552,000 tons of NPK,
22,000 tons of Special Formula NPK, and
33,000 tons of Organic Fertilizer.
Meanwhile, the 445,000 tons of non-subsidized fertilizer consist of:
361,000 tons of Urea and
84,000 tons of NPK.
Apart from stock readiness, Wijaya reported that Pupuk Indonesia has already distributed 1.52 million tons of subsidized fertilizer to farmers, consisting of:
731,000 tons of Urea,
728,000 tons of NPK,
11,000 tons of Special Formula NPK, and
51,000 tons of Organic Fertilizer.
This distribution figure is higher than the same period in 2024, which stood at 1.142 million tons.
"This increase in distribution reflects the success of the government and Pupuk Indonesia in simplifying the subsidized fertilizer distribution mechanism. Moving forward, we remain committed to making distribution even more efficient and well-targeted," Wijaya stated.
With this stock readiness and efficient distribution, Wijaya is confident that farmers' fertilizer needs for the second planting season of 2025, which begins in April, will be met. He is also optimistic that Pupuk Indonesia will successfully meet the full 2025 subsidized fertilizer allocation of 9.5 million tons.
"We hope that this positive trend in production and distribution continues through the end of 2025, allowing Pupuk Indonesia to actively support the government’s efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency as soon as possible," he said.
Pupuk Indonesia's Readiness for the Second Planting Season 2025
Pupuk Indonesia has ensured the smooth distribution of fertilizers before and after Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri (Lebaran 2025). Wijaya emphasized that maintaining a smooth distribution process is crucial to ensure fertilizer availability for the upcoming second planting season, starting in April 2025.
Ahead of Lebaran 2025, Pupuk Indonesia will continue distributing fertilizers from warehouses to kiosks until Friday, March 28, 2025. The distribution process will resume full operations on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
"All distribution lines of Pupuk Indonesia must resume operations on April 3 to support the second planting season, which begins in April. Shareholders must ensure that post-holiday operations return to normal to maintain seamless service across all distribution lines," he stated.
Subsidized Fertilizer Distribution Unaffected by Transport Restrictions
Wijaya assured that the distribution of subsidized fertilizers will not be impacted by the government’s temporary restrictions on freight transportation during the Lebaran homecoming (mudik) period. This is because fertilizer is classified as an essential commodity and is exempt from the transportation restrictions.
"Pupuk Indonesia guarantees the readiness and smooth distribution of fertilizers before and after Lebaran since fertilizers are classified as essential commodities that are exempt from freight transportation restrictions during the 2025 mudik period," Wijaya explained.
The Indonesian government has issued a Joint Decree (SKB) of Three Ministries concerning Traffic and Road Crossing Regulations during the 2025 Eid Homecoming and Return Period (1466 H).
Under this decree, the government will restrict the operation of certain freight transport vehicles, particularly three-axle (or more) trucks on many toll and non-toll roads across Sumatra, Java, and Kalimantan. These restrictions will be in effect from Monday, March 24, 2025, at 00:00 AM until Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 24:00 local time.
Wijaya confirmed that fertilizer transport will not be affected by these restrictions, as the exemptions apply to essential goods such as fuel (BBM), livestock feed, and fertilizers.
"With this exemption, we can ensure that trucks carrying both subsidized and non-subsidized fertilizers will continue operating as usual to deliver essential fertilizers needed by farmers. This policy aligns with the government’s priority program in food security," he concluded.
