Ngawi, March 4, 2025 – President Director of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), Rahmad Pribadi, is ready to implement the directive of the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, who stated that ensuring the availability of fertilizer before the planting season is one of the key factors in achieving national food self-sufficiency.

"The volume of subsidized fertilizer has now been increased, so not only have the regulations been simplified, but the volume has also been expanded," said Rahmad at the For an Independent Indonesia in Food event held at Pangkur Field, Ngawi Regency, East Java, on Monday (3/3/2025).

As a state-owned enterprise mandated to produce and distribute subsidized fertilizer, Rahmad expressed gratitude to the government for continuously improving policies related to the management of subsidized fertilizer. Through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 6 of 2025, the government has streamlined the distribution process and made it easier for farmers to redeem subsidized fertilizer.

Furthermore, Rahmad stated that the government has allocated 9.55 million tons of subsidized fertilizer for 2025. This figure is higher than the 2024 distribution realization, which was approximately 7.3 million tons. With this increase, Rahmad encouraged all farmers, including those in Ngawi, East Java, to promptly redeem fertilizer at official kiosks.

"This year, the allocation is 9.55 million tons; for Ngawi, last year it was 71,000 tons, and this year it is 81,000 tons. The directive from the Coordinating Minister is that fertilizer must be ready. Here in Ngawi, we have two fertilizer warehouses, with nearly 20,000 tons of fertilizer prepared. Therefore, for farmers ready to plant, we will facilitate this so that Indonesia can achieve food self-sufficiency as envisioned by President Prabowo. Farmers, please redeem your fertilizer, as we have already prepared it," said Rahmad.

Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas), emphasized that the availability of fertilizer before the planting season is a crucial factor in achieving food self-sufficiency. According to him, the planting process will not be optimal without adequate fertilizer supply.

"Fertilizer must be available before planting. Many regulations have already been streamlined," said Zulhas in his speech.

Zulhas revealed that President Prabowo Subianto has designated food security as a top priority program. He stated that for too long, the food sector has received attention without becoming the main focus of national policy.

Furthermore, Zulhas stressed that achieving food self-sufficiency cannot be accomplished solely by the central government but requires collaboration from all parties. With close cooperation between the central government, regional governments, and various stakeholders, Zulhas is optimistic that food self-sufficiency can truly be realized in the near future.
