Pupuk Indonesia Ensures Fertilizer Production and Distribution Remain Operational During Ramadan

Jakarta, February 28, 2025 – As the holy month of Ramadan 2025 begins, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) remains committed to serving farmers across the country. This includes ensuring uninterrupted fertilizer production during the fasting month and guaranteeing fertilizer availability at kiosks or retailers to meet farmers' needs and support the government's food self-sufficiency program.
The Marketing Director of Pupuk Indonesia, Tri Wahyudi Saleh, stated that in addition to maintaining production, the company is also ensuring the smooth distribution process. This is particularly important as farmers in several regions will soon require fertilizers to prepare for the planting season in April 2025.
"As a state-owned enterprise (SOE) mandated by the government to produce and distribute subsidized fertilizers, we are committed to continuously providing the best services to farmers, especially as they approach the planting season once again," said Tri Wahyudi.
To support distribution, Pupuk Indonesia currently operates 516 warehouses at the provincial and district/city levels with a total capacity of approximately 2.89 million tons. The distribution infrastructure is backed by 1,067 distributors, 25,903 kiosk or retail networks, 107 shipping service providers with 179 shipping routes, 274 trucking service providers covering 1,288 routes, and four distribution routes via railway.
Tri Wahyudi assured that Pupuk Indonesia's supply chain will continue operating throughout Ramadan and even before and after Eid al-Fitr. This is made possible by government support, which annually grants exemptions for fertilizer transportation to continue operating despite the usual restrictions on freight transport during the Eid holiday travel period.
Furthermore, Tri Wahyudi emphasized that during Ramadan, farmers can still redeem subsidized fertilizers at kiosks or retailers as usual. The government has also facilitated the redemption process for all registered farmers.
Registered farmers who have allocated subsidized fertilizers can redeem them at Complete Fertilizer Kiosks (KPL) or retailers by presenting their National Identity Card (KTP) and cash according to the quantity of fertilizer being redeemed. Farmers can also use the iPubers application, which has been downloaded by kiosk or retailer owners, to facilitate redemption.
According to current regulations, fertilizer redemption can be delegated in cases where registered farmers face difficulties, such as lost or mismatched identity card data, the farmer's passing, or health issues preventing them from making the redemption themselves. However, any delegated redemption must comply with government requirements as outlined in the Director General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities Decision No. 30/KPTS/RC.210/B/06/2024 regarding the distribution of subsidized fertilizers from retail kiosks to farmers.
"The convenience of redeeming subsidized fertilizers by simply presenting a KTP is now available at around 25,903 kiosks or retailers that have implemented the iPubers application. This makes it easier for registered farmers to obtain subsidized fertilizers to meet their agricultural needs," he explained.
As of February 27, 2025, Pupuk Indonesia has successfully distributed 1,181,590 tons of subsidized fertilizer. A detailed breakdown shows that the company has delivered 568,869 tons of urea fertilizer, 564,325 tons of NPK fertilizer, 8,222 tons of special formula NPK fertilizer, and 40,175 tons of organic fertilizer to registered farmers.
To meet the demand during Ramadan, Pupuk Indonesia is committed to maintaining fertilizer availability by preparing a stock of 1,598,598 tons, consisting of 1,167,315 tons of subsidized fertilizer and 431,283 tons of non-subsidized fertilizer.
The detailed breakdown of subsidized fertilizer stocks includes 574,069 tons of urea, 533,288 tons of NPK, 21,222 tons of special formula NPK, and 38,736 tons of organic fertilizer. The availability of subsidized fertilizer stock reaches 314% of the government's minimum stock requirements. Meanwhile, Pupuk Indonesia's non-subsidized fertilizer stock amounts to 431,283 tons, comprising 378,167 tons of urea and 53,116 tons of NPK.
"We are always committed to providing the best service to farmers nationwide because we want to involve all stakeholders in achieving the government’s vision of food self-sufficiency," he emphasized.
In 2025, Pupuk Indonesia has been mandated by the government to produce and distribute 9.55 million tons of subsidized fertilizer. According to the Indonesian Minister of Agriculture's Decree No. 644/KPTS/SR.310/M.11/2024, the government has set an allocation of 9.5 million tons of subsidized fertilizer, consisting of 4.6 million tons of urea, 4.2 million tons of NPK, 147,798 tons of special formula NPK, and 500,000 tons of organic fertilizer.
"We urge all farmers to redeem their allocations as soon as possible. Our entire marketing team in the field remains available to assist and serve farmers, ensuring they receive the best service even during Ramadan," he concluded.
