The Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) of the Republic of Indonesia, Aminuddin Ma’ruf, has ensured that fertilizer production and availability for farmers remain well-maintained. He conveyed this after conducting a working visit and inaugurating the "Kujang Kampioen" research farm of PT Pupuk Kujang in Cikampek, Karawang, West Java, on Friday (7/2/2025).
Accompanied by the Director of Human Resources of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), Tina T. Kemala Intan, and the President Director of Pupuk Kujang, Maryono, Deputy Minister Amin directly inspected the fertilizer packaging facilities and the stock of fertilizers available in the warehouse.
"We are now at Pupuk Kujang’s warehouse. We have ensured that fertilizer stocks are secure. We guarantee that supply and distribution will be safe for our farmer friends. The availability of both subsidized and non-subsidized fertilizers, God willing, will be sufficient for all regions," said Deputy Minister Amin.
As of Thursday evening, February 6, 2025, the recorded stock of subsidized fertilizers reached 133,671 tons, consisting of 99,191.4 tons of Urea, 29,056.9 tons of NPK, and 5,422.6 tons of organic fertilizer. Meanwhile, non-subsidized fertilizers totaled 10,218.9 tons, comprising 2,661.6 tons of NPK and 7,557.3 tons of Urea.
Deputy Minister Amin further emphasized that the fertilizer industry is a highly strategic sector. It is one of the key factors in realizing the grand vision of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, as outlined in Asta Cita, which includes a focus on promoting national self-sufficiency in food production.
"On every occasion, the President always emphasizes that food security is the key to national progress and sovereignty. The availability of land will not increase, while food demand continues to rise. Therefore, Pupuk Indonesia must continue innovating and developing technology. To become an advanced nation, research must be prioritized," he stated.
In addition to ensuring fertilizer production and stock, Deputy Minister Amin also had the opportunity to inaugurate the Kujang Kampioen research farm. He expressed his appreciation for this facility, emphasizing that innovation and technological advancements are crucial for meeting the nation’s growing food needs.
"Kampioen is an innovation by Pupuk Kujang to implement a technological approach in improving agricultural productivity. Technology-driven approaches are essential for enhancing food production. Land availability remains constant, but food demand increases. The key lies in intensification, one of which is the application of technology," said Deputy Minister Amin.
During this visit, he also toured several research demonstration plots within the 8-hectare facility. Through this research farm, Pupuk Indonesia aims to conduct studies to enhance agricultural productivity in support of accelerating national food self-sufficiency.
Meanwhile, Tina T. Kemala Intan, Director of Human Resources at Pupuk Indonesia, highlighted that Pupuk Kujang's operational area, as part of Pupuk Indonesia, is strategically located at the heart of the national food hub. Since the company does not have direct access to the sea, it is compelled to continuously innovate to support national food security.
"We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) of Indonesia for fostering the fertilizer industry. We hope that this support will continue to strengthen national food self-sufficiency," she stated briefly.
At the same event, Maryono, President Director of Pupuk Kujang, explained that the Kujang Kampioen research farm is equipped with various research facilities, including greenhouses, agricultural land, and rice fields. It serves as a testing ground for various cutting-edge agricultural technologies, new cultivation techniques, as well as fertilizer and plant nutrition formulations.
"The Kujang Kampioen research farm stands as proof of our company’s transformation, for which we are truly grateful. The establishment of this research farm is expected to serve as a motivation for enhancing company performance, making it more productive and efficient," concluded Maryono.
