Pupuk Indonesia's “Social Tour Dambaan” Program Wins ICA and ISDA Awards
Jakarta, November 29, 2024 – PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) has secured two prestigious awards for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability (TJSL) program, “Social Tour Dambaan,” which is based on the Creating Shared Value (CSV) approach. The program, recognized for its sustainable impact on society, earned a Platinum Award at the Indonesia CSR Awards (ICA) and a Silver Award at the Indonesian SDGs Awards (ISDA), held in Jakarta on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
Tina T. Kemala Intan, Director of Human Resources at Pupuk Indonesia, emphasized that these accolades underscore the company’s innovative approach to CSR programs that align with corporate responsibility. Each TJSL initiative implemented by the company focuses on delivering sustainable benefits.
"We extend our gratitude to the Corporate Forum for CSR Development (CFCD), the organizer of ICA and ISDA, for these recognitions. These awards motivate us at Pupuk Indonesia to continue innovating in designing CSR programs that provide broader and more sustainable benefits. This ensures that the company's presence is genuinely felt by the community," Tina remarked.
The program, an acronym for "Sustainable Good Impact," captivated the judges by presenting an inspiring solution to encourage the regeneration of farmers in Indonesia while enhancing community welfare.
Senior Vice President of TJSL, Junianto Simare Mare, explained that through “Social Tour Dambaan,” Pupuk Indonesia invites youth from across Indonesia to assist farmers and local communities. Initially launched in 2023 in Dieng Kulon Village, Batur District, Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java, the program combines agricultural education, environmental management, and community engagement.
The initiative includes educating farmers on agricultural technology and appropriate use of agricultural inputs (saprodi) to maximize harvests. In addition to farming, volunteers support waste management and tree planting for environmental benefits. From an educational standpoint, volunteers gain agricultural knowledge and first-hand experience in understanding farmers' lives in rural areas.
As part of the program, Pupuk Indonesia also distributed assistance aligned with the tour's objectives, including agricultural inputs, transportation and trash bins for village roads, seedlings, and educational facilities for local schools.
"Pupuk Indonesia is committed not only to delivering high-quality agricultural products and services but also to consistently contributing to society. Our CSR programs are designed based on environmental conditions and community needs, ensuring their sustainable impact," added Junianto.
He noted that ICA evaluations were based on the CSR standards outlined in ISO 26000. The judging panel highlighted the Social Tour Dambaan program's ability to improve income and welfare, thus fostering the development of target TJSL communities.
Meanwhile, ISDA assessments focused on corporate involvement in supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Social Tour Dambaan program was awarded for SDG Goal 2 (Zero Hunger) under the sub-goal of protecting and developing local agricultural, livestock, fisheries, and plantation varieties.
Both ICA and ISDA aim to appreciate companies contributing to community development and inspire others to adopt best practices in CSR and SDGs. This year, 268 programs were evaluated as part of these prestigious awards.
