Pupuk Indonesia Wins Platinum Trophy for Innovation & Technology Advancement at BUMN Branding & Marketing Award 2024
Jakarta, November 14, 2024 – PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero)'s efforts to advance Indonesian agriculture through innovation and technology were recognized at the BUMN Branding & Marketing Award 2024 in Jakarta on Thursday, November 14. The company received the highest honor, the Platinum Trophy, in the Innovation & Technology Advancement category, as well as the Best Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) award for Leadership & Teamwork, presented to Tri Wahyudi Saleh, the Marketing Director of Pupuk Indonesia.
“Pupuk Indonesia is actively pursuing innovation and optimizing technology to support the national food self-sufficiency program. This award will continue to motivate us to make breakthroughs for the advancement of agriculture in Indonesia,” said Tri Wahyudi.
Among Pupuk Indonesia's technological innovations is the customizable compound fertilizer (NPK) product, designed to meet the specific needs of consumers. This innovation is crucial as each crop requires different nutritional needs, ensuring that the fertilizers produced are precise and tailored to the plants’ needs.
Currently, Pupuk Indonesia offers more than 200 specialized NPK formulations for a range of agricultural commodities. These include fertilizers for cocoa, pepper, palm oil, horticulture, aquaculture (ponds), sugarcane, rice, corn, tobacco, cassava, coffee, and many others. Additionally, the company also offers Phonska Alam NPK, designed specifically for organic farming.
Another key program is "Makmur," an innovative agricultural ecosystem aimed at boosting farm productivity and improving farmers' welfare. Makmur integrates the upstream and downstream sectors of agriculture, involving stakeholders such as banks, insurance companies, agricultural consultants, local governments, and off-takers.
“We also have the Kartini Tani program, which optimizes the role of women in advancing agriculture in Indonesia. This program has had a positive impact in various regions. Furthermore, to increase the availability of non-subsidized fertilizers, Pupuk Indonesia launched Toko Pe-i, a program that expands marketing channels by forming new partnerships,” Tri Wahyudi added.
He further explained how Pupuk Indonesia has leveraged technology in agriculture. The company’s PreciX program uses drones for land mapping and mobile soil testing vehicles to assess soil fertility and health. These technologies provide precise fertilization recommendations based on plant needs and soil conditions. In practice, these innovations have proven to boost productivity through more effective and efficient cultivation.
Pupuk Indonesia also utilizes digital technology to streamline fertilizer distribution, from warehouse management to village-level kiosks. The company has made it easier for farmers to redeem subsidized fertilizers through the iPubers app, allowing farmers to simply bring their ID cards to kiosks for fertilizer redemption.
This innovation, launched in 2024 in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, is part of an effort to improve the management of subsidized fertilizer distribution. Additionally, Pupuk Indonesia has developed various other digital applications to enhance distribution effectiveness, efficiency, and oversight.
“Every innovation and technological advancement we implement is a collective effort to create a more advanced and modern Indonesian agriculture, while encouraging the younger generation to actively contribute to the growth of the sector,” Tri Wahyudi concluded.
In addition to the Platinum Trophy for Innovation & Technology Advancement, Pupuk Indonesia also received three other prestigious awards: the Platinum Trophy for Employer and Employee Branding in Building Competent and Agile BUMN Personnel, the Gold Trophy for Collaborations Between BUMN Personnel and Technology, and The Best Brand Innovation Award for State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and Listed Companies.
Two of Pupuk Indonesia’s subsidiaries also earned awards at the event. Petrokimia Gresik won four awards, while Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang received one.
The BUMN Branding & Marketing Awards 2024, organized by BUMN Track magazine, recognize the exceptional efforts of state-owned enterprises (BUMNs) in optimizing branding and marketing strategies.
