East Flores, November 12, 2024 – PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) Group has distributed 1,159 aid packages containing basic necessities and supplies for evacuees affected by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province. The assistance was directly handed over by Pupuk Indonesia’s Director of Human Resources, Tina T. Kemala Intan, accompanied by Senior Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Junianto Simare Mare, to Lewolaga Post Coordinator, Anselmus Maryanto, at the Lewolaga Village Disaster Post, Wulanggitang District, East Flores, on Tuesday (11/12/2024).

Tina emphasized that this aid is part of Pupuk Indonesia’s CSR program in collaboration with its subsidiaries, Pupuk Kalimantan Timur and Petrokimia Gresik. She expressed hope that these basic needs packages would help ease the daily burden of the evacuees impacted by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi.

“On behalf of the entire Pupuk Indonesia Group, my team and I are here to provide aid to the evacuees, including food, basic needs packages, and supplies. We hope this support can benefit those affected by the eruption. We feel compelled to assist and offer our support so that those affected can remain optimistic during this crisis,” said Tina.

Of the total aid packages, 500 came from Pupuk Indonesia, another 500 from Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, and 150 packages of food and supplies from Petrokimia Gresik.

Each aid package includes five kilograms (kg) of rice, one box of instant noodles, one box of 600-milliliter (mL) bottled water, and one liter of cooking oil. The supplies also included diapers, sarongs, blankets, and milk for both children and adults.

Tina added that during the distribution process at the site, coordination with local post coordinators would be ensured to target aid effectively so that the evacuees could fully benefit from the support.

Mount Lewotobi has been erupting for ten consecutive days since November 3, 2024. According to reports from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), the eruption has continued as of early Tuesday morning.

The eruption has resulted in casualties, property damage, and displaced residents. The East Flores Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that as of November 10, 2024, the number of evacuees had reached 12,288 people.

“We pray that everyone affected can overcome this disaster, return home soon, and that the eruption comes to an end. May everyone here be strengthened and able to resume their lives,” Tina concluded.
