The Makmur Program Facilitates Farmers' Access to Fertilizers and Funding

KARAWANG – PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) invites farmers located in the Karawang, Kuningan, Cirebon areas to join the MAKMUR (Prosperous) program. The program, which means Mari Kita Majukan Usaha Rakyat (Let's Improve People's Business), can provide various facilities ranging from fertilizers to access to capital through agricultural ecosystems.

"Makmur is an agricultural ecosystem that uses 100 percent non-subsidized fertilizer, how can this program be beneficial and profitable for farmers because Pupuk Indonesia provides assistance, then the fertilizer is adjusted according to the dosage, the fertilizer is delivered on time," said the President Director of Pupuk Indonesia, Rahmad Pribadi during a dialogue with Citarik Village farmers, Thursday (24/8/2023).

The Makmur Program is Pupuk Indonesia's effort to connect farmers with agricultural ecosystems so as to provide convenience for farmers to access fertilizers and obtain capital. This agricultural ecosystem is a form of collaboration between SOEs.

The agricultural ecosystem in question starts from project leaders, insurance, financial institutions, agricultural technology, agro-inputs, regional governments, and offtakers. That way, farmers who join the Makmur program receive assistance, funding from banks, insurance guarantees, guaranteed absorption of production from all stakeholders involved in the ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Ayub Ibni, a farmer from Citarik Village, Tirtamulya District, admitted that the Makmur program had provided many benefits, one of which was related to the productivity and welfare of farmers. According to him, farmers who are members of the Makmur program can easily access fertilizer because they do not depend on subsidized fertilizers.

"With the Makmur program we are greatly helped, because we get certainty in terms of fertilizer, the fertilizer is on time, in terms of capital, assistance and knowledge provision to farmers," said Ayub.

In this activity, Pupuk Indonesia also provided assistance in the form of agricultural sprayers to farmers in Citarik Village, Tirtamulya District, Karawang Regency, West Java. It is hoped that agricultural tools will be useful for farmers in eradicating pests and plant diseases.
