Pupuk Indonesia Supports Police to Arrest Perpetrators of Subsidized Fertilizer Smuggling
JAKARTA – PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) supports the steps taken by the Police of the Republic of Indonesia to arrest perpetrators of subsidized fertilizer abuse. Pupuk Indonesia also continues to coordinate with the Indonesian National Police and law enforcement officials in order to improve supervision over the distribution of subsidized fertilizers.
This was disclosed by Pupuk Indonesia's VP of Region 3A Sales, Aviv Ahmad Fadhil while at the same time appreciating the actions of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Pandeglang Police, Banten, which succeeded in thwarting the diversion of 25 tons of subsidized fertilizer some time ago. "Pupuk Indonesia appreciates the steps taken by law enforcement officials, especially the Indonesian National Police, who managed to arrest 4 perpetrators of subsidized fertilizer fraud in Pandeglang, Banten," said Aviv, Thursday (3/8/2023).
As a company that has received a mandate for the procurement and distribution of subsidized fertilizers, Aviv said that Pupuk Indonesia would not hesitate to stop working with distributors and kiosks who were proven to be distributing subsidized fertilizers outside of government regulations.
Therefore, according to Aviv, Pupuk Indonesia appealed to all distribution networks such as authorized distributors and kiosks throughout Indonesia not to try to take illegal actions, especially in the process of distributing subsidized fertilizers.
"Pupuk Indonesia is ready to take firm action if official distributors and kiosks are involved and are proven to be distributing subsidized fertilizer outside of government regulations. Because subsidized fertilizers are goods under the supervision of the Government, their distribution is monitored by law enforcement officials, starting from the Police, Prosecutors' Office, TNI to Regional Governments (Pemda).
For this reason, in order to improve governance in the implementation of subsidized fertilizer distribution. Pupuk Indonesia together with the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) have implemented the iPubers application which is a digital system for official kiosks. This system has been successfully tested in 5 provinces namely Bali, Aceh, Bangka Belitung, South Kalimantan and Riau.
Previously, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pandeglang Police, Banten, managed to arrest 4 suspects in the misappropriation of 25 tons of subsidized fertilizer, which were allegedly going to be sent outside the city of Pandeglang. The perpetrators also admitted to having carried out this action three times with a total of 38 tons of subsidized fertilizer.
