PT Pupuk Indonesia Niaga, a member of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) carries out its business in the field of trading of fertilizers and non-fertilizers. In trading Urea and NPK type fertilizers, the source of goods comes from five fertilizer producers members of the Pupuk Indonesia Group holding, while for other types of fertilizer, PI Niaga cooperates with various other fertilizer companies both at home and abroad.

For non-fertilizer trading, PI Niaga diversified its business by developing trade in coal and nickel commodities to meet domestic and export needs.

Dudi Dermawan, SVP of Logistics at PI Niaga explained that the coal business opportunity is still open, where in 2022, PI Niaga had sold around 103,900 MT. "Some time ago we sent 5,000 MT of coal to Rekind Daya Mamuju and currently PI Niaga will deliver 50,000 MT of coal to PLN with partial shipments," said Dudi.

Apart from the coal business, PI Niaga also runs the nickel business and currently demand for nickel is predicted to increase in line with the Government's program to continue to encourage the use of electric cars, where nickel is one of the main raw materials for electric vehicle batteries.

As of this July, PI Niaga has sent ± 24,000 MT of nickel to several companies in the Southeast Sulawesi region. "We hope that the increase in business activities outside of fertilizer can contribute to adding sales value and achieving the company's target in 2023," said Dudi, ending the conversation.
