"Social Tour Dambaan" Program by Pupuk Indonesia Wins Platinum Award at BISRA 2024
Jakarta, June 27, 2024 – PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero)'s commitment to implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) has received public recognition. The Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program "Social Tour Dambaan" or "Sustainable Good Impact" in Dieng Kulon Village, Central Java, received the Platinum award at the 2024 Bisnis Indonesia Social Responsibility Awards (BISRA). The award was personally received by Pupuk Indonesia's Vice President of Creating Shared Value (CSV) Management, Mochamad Radityo, representing the Board of Directors in Jakarta, Thursday (27/6/2024).
Radityo stated that this award is proof that the TJSL program, as part of Pupuk Indonesia's ESG implementation, can provide sustainable good impact. As a global-scale fertilizer company, Pupuk Indonesia continues to develop initiatives that positively impact and align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this case, the Social Tour Dambaan program is packaged as an inspirational solution to encourage the regeneration of farmers in Indonesia, while also bringing prosperity to the community.
"In running its business operations, Pupuk Indonesia not only produces quality agricultural products and services. Through the CSV program, which is part of TJSL, Pupuk Indonesia is also committed to continuously contributing to society. Our CSV programs are formulated by considering the environmental conditions and community needs, so their presence is truly felt sustainably," said Radityo.
Pupuk Indonesia, through the Social Tour Dambaan program, invites Generation Z from various regions in Indonesia to assist farmers and the community. This program was previously implemented in 2023 in Dieng Kulon Village, Batur District, Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java.
The Social Tour Dambaan program itself is a recreational program combined with social activities involving young people, generally students, to serve the community. The forms of service carried out include agricultural service, environmental service, and educational service. Through this program, Generation Y is also expected to gain social experience, enriching their insights.
From the agricultural aspect, this program provides education to farmers on topics such as fertilization, agricultural production facilities (saprodi), and more. From the environmental aspect, volunteers help with waste management and tree planting. In the educational aspect, volunteers are equipped with agricultural education as a provision for service in the area.
During this activity, Pupuk Indonesia also provided several aids aligned with the tour materials, including the provision of agricultural production facilities (saprodi), transportation and trash bins placed along village roads, plant seeds, and educational facilities for target schools of educational service.
Radityo explained that the Social Tour Dambaan program is an implementation of the TJSL program with the Creating Shared Value (CSV) concept, where the community is involved in the company's business chain and provides mutual benefits for both the company and the community. This program meets two CSV strategies: creating a market niche for company products (Reconceiving product and market) and activating local stakeholders in efforts to reduce social and environmental problems (Enabling local cluster development). Besides, through this program, the company contributes to creating farmer regeneration by providing agricultural material training to the volunteers.
"This award certainly motivates us to run increasingly innovative TJSL programs that bring sustainable good impact to the community, thus strengthening harmonious relationships and facilitating Pupuk Indonesia in fulfilling its mandate to maintain national food security," he concluded.
